Dubai's 'cruise-ship modern': some snapshots

If there is a single style marking new architecture in Dubai, as I wrote in this piece last weekend, it is a kind of cruise-ship modern -- overpolished, heavy on the mirrored glass and seemingly just unwrapped from a 1980s time capsule.
A few snapshots of the style follow after the jump.
The shot at the top of the post and the one at the bottom are from the unapologetically over-the-top Burj Al Arab hotel. The two in the middle show typical office towers along Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai's high-rise, Manhattan-like spine.
