Wise theatergoers know that if they’re planning to attend a Dame Edna show, they’d better get to their seats in a timely manner. And only if they’re into public displays of, um, affection, should those at the front of the house rise from their seats for, say, a restroom break during the 90-minute show.

Yes, that glorious gladiola-wielding glamour gal Dame Edna (a.k.a. Barry Humphries) is back at the Ahmanson Theatre with her newest night of terror, er, comedy: ‘Dame Edna: My First Last Tour.’ And any time Mrs. Norm Everage makes an appearance in the City of Angels, we know that there will be a number of celebrity guests among the potential targets in the audience.

At Wednesday’s opening night performance, we spotted Martin Sheen, Anjelica Huston, Sandra Tsing Loh, Judge Judy Sheindlin (whose husband, Jerry, was one of the ‘lucky’ ones called onstage), Dania Ramirez of ‘Heroes’ (no, her eyes weren’t melting), Julian Sands (hey -- we saw him at ‘Oleanna’ too. Is he stalking us?) as well as several ‘Friends of Kenny’ and others.

Click on the jump to see who was there, and check back with us later today for The Times’ review of the show.

Oh, and here’s one more tip from your friendly Culture Monsters: We hear Jay Leno and wife Mavis are FODE (Friends of Dame Edna) and will be at the show tonight.
