It appears that another opera company is joining in as a prize-giver for the latest round of the Twitter Opera Synopsis Contest, and it’s our very own hometown team.

Los Angeles Opera will be giving away tickets to its upcoming revival of Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’ to the contest winners. The production, directed by Marta Domingo, will feature sopranos Marina Poplavskaya and Elizabeth Futral, who share the role of Violetta.

L.A. Opera’s marketing team was perplexed to learn that it was left off the publicized roster of companies that are giving away prizes for the forthcoming round, which is scheduled to begin Monday. The contest sponsor, The Omniscient Mussel blog, wrote to Culture Monster this morning alerting us to the inadvertent omission.

The tickets for ‘La Traviata’ will be for orchestra seats, according to L.A. Opera, though no word yet on the performance date(s). The production runs from May 21 to June 21.

So why are you still reading this post? You better start practicing those tweets unless you feel like paying $215 a pop for premier orchestra seats.
