At Culture Monster, we like to think we always look on the bright side of life. So we were delighted to learn today that the Monty Python musical ‘Spamalot’ will kick off the new season at the Ahmanson Theatre. It will run July 7 through Sept. 6.

The based-on-the-film musical, which ended its nearly four-year run Sunday on Broadway, won multiple Tony Awards including the 2005 statuette for best musical, as well as a 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Last year, a production opened at the Wynn Las Vegas, starring John O’Hurley. The former ‘Dancing With the Stars’ winner and ‘Seinfeld’ semi-regular will reprise the role of King Arthur at the Ahmanson.
