In February, virtuoso Russian ballerina Diana Vishneva danced the premieres of three pieces created for her in a program called "Beauty in Motion" at the Orange County Performing Arts Center (read our review  of the performance and 2003 profile of the glamorous Vishneva).

Now, the 32-year-old star and "Beauty in Motion," which was co-commissioned and co-produced by OCPAC and Ardani Artists, have been nominated for two Russian Golden Mask Awards.

Not to be confused with the Golden Globe, the Golden Mask is a national theater prize created in 1994 by the Theater Union of Russia and awarded to productions in the categories of drama, opera, ballet, operettas and musicals, and puppet theater. "Beauty in Motion" will be featured at 2009's Golden Mask Festival in Moscow, to be held March 27 through April 18.
