Placido_domingo--Placido Domingo, right, will announce today plans to bring together some 50 Los Angeles arts organizations for a 10-week event in spring 2010 called Ring Festival L.A.

-- Richard Dreyfuss will star in the world premiere of Joe Sutton's "Complicit," at London's Old Vic. Kevin Spacey will direct.

-- The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra stays afloat --for now -- while the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, once on the brink of bankruptcy, shows signs of recovery.

-- Despite the second-strongest ticket sales in its history, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival faces a $750,000 deficit this year and an anticipated deficit of $1 million in 2009.

-- Singer Yma Sumac, known as the "Nightingale of the Andes," dies of cancer at 86.

--Reports that Orange County Register's theater critic and music critic have been given a buyout package are false.

--A lost painting by Italian master Sebastiano Ricci, "The Vision of St. Bruno," turns up in Texas.

--Actor Rowan Atkinson, perhaps best known as Mr. Bean, takes to the stage in London next month as Fagin in "Oliver!"

--The NEA honors James Levine, Leontyde Price, Carlisle Floyd, Richard Gaddes at the first NEA Opera Awards.
