Who are these people?

Art_technology

At Tuesday's Chateau Marmont announcement of the Getty Foundation's $2.8-million funding of a series of exhibitions about L.A.'s art history, Michael Govan, director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, mentioned something interesting. The most requested exhibition catalog in LACMA's history is the one for "Art and Technology," a controversial four-year project (1967-1971) that paired artists with Southern California industries to execute experimental works of art. The book has long been out of print -- but as of this week, it's available online.

That's the cover, above. (One look and you'll have some idea why the feminist art revolution exploded in L.A.) After the jump, find out Who's Who among the men invited to participate...

No kidding. That's a whole bunch of white males there, and it's certainly not an exhibit *I'd* be interested in seeing!

I agree Susan, it looks like a group photo from the RNC convention. No diversity at all. I understand that's just how it was back in those days, but it's still depressing.

Perhaps you might want to find out more about what this collection of "white male" faces is about before dismissing it so quickly...

Who could have imagined L A Times readers to be so racially prejudiced?

Would a display showing only men and womyn of color be similarly excoriated for its equal lack of diversity?

Is the idea that you judge a work by the race and gender of its maker?

Given what they teach in the schools nowadays, I'm not all that surprised...

Chicks can't make art.
