Last week, Culture Monster reported plans for a new musical based on slash-fest ‘American Psycho.’ We thought we’d heard it all.

Obviously we spoke too soon. Today we’re hearing about a new rock musical revolving around ‘Deep Throat’ -- and we’re not talking Watergate here.

For those too young -- or too pure -- to remember (we count ourselves in that group), ‘Deep Throat’ was a 1972 film that, depending on whom you talk to, may or may not have been the most financially successful porn movie of all time. But it definitely turned its star, Linda Lovelace, into a household name. (Well, some households, anyway.)

Charlotte Caffey, an original member of the ‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ girl band the Go-Gos, has written the book, music and lyrics for ‘Lovelace: A Rock Opera,’ which revolves around the life and times of the ‘70s porn star, who later gained support from Gloria Steinem and other feminists when she disclosed she was a victim and performed under threat of death. Singer Anna Waronker, a founding member of the group That Dog, and Jeffery Leonard Bowman are also part of the creative team. It stars newcomer Katrina Lenk.

The musical has been in development for a number of years and had a one-night showing at the Key Club in 2003. It will premiere at the Hayworth Theatre on Oct. 18.

UPDATED: An earlier version of this post reversed letters in Jeffery Leonard Bowman’s first name, mistakenly making him Jeffrey Leonard Bowman.
