So, let me get this straight? You want us to respect you for accepting a tape, promising not to ever show it- and you did this....WHY? OH yeah, in that tank for Obama, protecting Obama, fair to Obama. What about all of us?
Posted by: Eileen | October 30, 2008 at 09:14 PM
Come on, LA Times! Release the damned Obama/Rashid Khalidi video now - before the Nov. 4 general election. ..or is that what you're afraid of revealing: more damning evidence of who Obama REALLY is??
Why, oh why do you continue to be another media minion for Obama? You really are sickening, you know!

Blah, blah, blah...
You clowns at the LAT must think we all just fell off the turnip wagon....
You don't have a problem releasing classified information from the Defense Department, the CIA, the FBI or digging up information on "Joe the Plumber" but nooooooooooooo...can't release a videotape of a public event....give me a friggin break...no wonder your circulation is falling like a rock!
Release the tape and if you won't release the tape, at least RELEASE THE TRANSCRIPT!
gezzzzzzzzzz...what a bunch of hypocrites!

There's no surprise here at all. The L.A. Times was supporting Hillary. Obama played dirty politics and knocked her out. What luck. Obama, The ONE, is more of a wild-eyed liberal than Hillary would ever be. Journalism "ethics". What a laugh. Just two questions: 1) Please provide the last occasion where the Los Angeles Times printed a story based on a tape and refused to publish the video or a full transcription. And 2) If you're concealing the video in the name of national security, which nation's security are you concerned about?

Again here is another example of the media trying to protect Obama from anything unflattering. If it were McCain this video would be running 24/7 on NBC MSNBC ,etc. People rage on an on about Fox news, but if you read the report on fairness in the media it shows that Fox ran about equal negative ads on both Obama and McCain , whereas MSNBC ran 78% negative on McCain and 17% on Obama. The left wing media which the times is included in is nothing more than a cheap rag now. totally biased. I will NEVER spend another penny on your newspaper and you can consider true journalism dead in this country for the most part. PATHETIC. If there is nothing to hide then show us. If this video gets out AFTER the election and there is something that should have been shown it will be the end of the LA Times as any credible source of news

No to release Khalidi? No to read LA Times. Simple.

Welcome to the new Pravda, Comrades! Looks like we'll be getting filtered information for the next 4 years at the very least. Maybe this will shock America (or will that be spelled "Amerika" like it was in the 60's by the HippyDippy crowd) into voting Libertarian next time around... Hmmm.... I think it's time for a 4 year vacation down island, or maybe the South Pacific while we're still allowed to leave the country without being investigated by the Thought Police. George Orwell was right.

I was unsure of who to vote for but was leaning towards Obama but this tape/transcript issue is making me change and vote for Ralph Nader which will probably be a wasted vote. I wish the Times would at least release the transcript.

I think it's apalling that the LA Times will not release a tape which can have an impact on the most important election in history. Shame on your for your biased and unprofessional journalism. Who can the citizens of the US rely on if they can't trust the MSM to report the news....
To use a colorful phrase
"The LA Times should grow a set and do what's right"
Posted by: Brenda | October 31, 2008 at 05:50 AM
Why is Obama not demanding that this tape be shown to prove that there is nothing worth seeing???
Posted by: Leigh Kelley | October 31, 2008 at 06:04 AM
I'm glad you're not releasing this tape. I'm glad because it will help to validate most Americans suspicions that journalism is dead! You have every opportunity to release the transcript at least and you won't even do that. Thus after the election, when your readers continue to wane and your profits continue to drop you can have an epiphany and release it; course it will not matter then. At that time Americans will only come to see the truth, that their new President and Commander in Cheif is himself a sympathizer with those who want to see Israel wiped off the face of the earth. So good for you, keep up your so called loyalties with your sources while you rob American voters of valuable insight into the character and associations of the candidate Barak Hussen Obama.

If Obama is elected and this tape comes out after the fact with proof that he in fact sat there passively or actively and supported the comments of Khalidi or anyone else I would not expect your paper to last long. I would count on a Jewish organization to buy out your company and disassemble it just to see you and your employees punished for putting the most dangerous Israel hater in history in the most powerful seat in the world. You guys are a disgrace to the news world and all journalists throughout history who believed in the role of an honest press in keeping democracy safe if there is anything on that tape at all.

The ultra neo-conservative republican base, as always, seeks to instill fear based on guilt by association. If it weren't for the McCain campaign playing the "throw everything and the kitchen sink to see what sticks" strategy, I might think there is something to this story. Check out the CNN interview with the McCain advocate (Michael Goldfarb of the Weekly Standard) who is attempting to get this video publicized, who could not name another association even though he claimed there are multiple Arabic associations other than Khalidi. On the Interview by Rick Sanchez, Goldfarb was ranting that the LA Times should release the video. Sanchez supported the right of journalists to protect their sources and allow those sources to set limits of the use of information. Goldfarb countered that this was part of a pattern, that Obama had relationships with other Arab terrorists. Sanchez asked for the name of any other Arab; Goldfarb named Ayers. Sanchez said, no, Ayers isn't an Arab, name an Arab. Goldfarb just said, you know who I mean, you know who I'm talking about. Sanchez pressed him, and Goldfarb continued to say, you know who I mean. Break for commercial; Goldfarb is gone.
If they want to discuss associations, seems Rudy G. highlighted associations btween McCain & Ayres.

How about at least realease the actual transcript fom the video L.A.Times should be emmbarssed by there actions I guess our voice shall be shut down if Obama is elected

Congratulations for standing your ground. That shuffling old cadaver, AKA: McCain, is acting like a cornered rat. Obama has enough challenges that he will face when he is President and he doesn't need to try to convince every paranoid idiot out there that he isn't a terrorist.

RELEASE THE KHALIDI TAPE!

Remember the Nixon Tapes? Take yours and burn it today. NOW!

What if mr. Khalidi or his associates had something to say that could make sense to some readers? Wouldn't it be good for paying subscriber to hear what they have to say? If on the other hand the speeches and statements recorded by the champion of Palestinian "Resistance" Mr. Ali Naima, a Chicago based professional activist like Mr. Obama - has material that could fundamentally help undecided voters make up their minds if they still want to help Mr. Obama get the keys to 1600 Penn. Ave, it is best to do it before the elections. Unless the editors, owners of the daily presume that they can take a flier and be vindicated by history, they are making a huge mistake. History is not forgiving to those who hide the truth. I thought the editors and reporters work for us, the paying public. I am one of those idiots, who for 20 years had this sad looking paper delivered to my door in West L.A. Every time that my spouse is on the road, I gladly cancel the deliveries. I know of mor reliable sources.

you must stop pretending to be a real professional news source

If you as an American care about your freedom out there I would be worried about the media destroying our country from within. It has become a politburo advancing Lenin and Stalin tactics such as witholding information that the public has a right to have .....for obvious tactical reasons for getting their marxist candidate elected. Cancel your subscriptions to the L.A. Times or New York Times and do NOT buy products advertised on NBC, CBS, or ABC.

I was a 30+ year subscriber who cancelled delivery after the fake "Bustamante will win the election" poll and the Schwarzenegger groping surprise perpetuated upon the public by the Times in 2003. If the quotes that are circulating across the web and are attributed to Obama on the video are true, then the video MUST be released. If they are untrue, then I would think that the LA Times would come to The Chosen Ones rescue.

I'm an undecided voter leaning a little towards Barak Obama. But something isn't right with this story. I'm very pro Israel but this makes me uneasy. These business associates and or friends of Senator Obama get worse by the minute. A vote for Senator McCain seems the safe vote.
Posted by: Josh | October 31, 2008 at 08:45 AM
Come on guys release the video, start acting like the reporters you went to school to become and not PAID Obama staff!!! Use your freedom of speach now before he gets elected and then you will be told what to write and what to print!

Why did the LA Times recieve the tape if they would not release it, but instead just hold it? that sounds more like the function of a library, to receive something and just keep it, than the new media which is suppose to report all perinent news it recieves. Oh, wait, even the library lends out material. And lets not even debate whether this is pertinent news, that answer there is obvious by the way they are clenching it to their apparent liberal hearts.
This is incredibly biased journalism that completely destroys any credibilty of the LA Times. I canceled my subscription over this and encourage others to do so. Barack has enough money to produce and air his propaganda, I don't need to have more of his media dropped off at my door each day.
