How quickly would you release the tape if it was McCain not Obama?
Can you say, in a New York minute?

Iran is a proven evil in this world. Ahmadinejad states over and over again his intention to bring about the “real Holocaust.”
This is one lesson the world simply cannot afford to learn again the hard way. But if we don’t vote for the wise hand of John McCain on the national tiller next month, then we may very well learn once again how brazen evil can be in the face of weak-kneed leadership.
The Prez’s FIRST duty is foreign affairs, above all else. This, then should be the first criterion of selecting a C in C.
There is no contest in this election. Only people blinded by foolish gullibility or misplaced loyalties could possibly see it any differently.

I believe that the LA times should show the tape to the citizens of the United States of America. If there is nothing wrong said about Israel from Sen. Obama or Rashid Khalidi then why do you keep denying the public view of the tape. But I believe and probably every John McCain supporter believes that there is something wrongly said on that tape about Israel and if showed to the public. It would bring Obama to his knees because then it would be true that he supports 100% that he is a radical Islam supporter.
LA Times be true to the people of the United States of America and show the tape.

Palin's voice has gotten so irratating! I scan the channels to keep up on the campaign & everytime I see her she's whining about something or criticizing Obama like she's running for president & McCain's running for VP. She's such a hypocrite to. The insignificant slander Palin continously uses to rally in votes, along w/ the failed good'ol boy standards of McCain & his hardcore followers only raise the growing disparity between the wealthy and the poor in the U.S., the spiraling rate of debt, both on personal and governmental levels, and the shocking rise in political chaos since the 1960s. No matter what answer Obama gives on Ayers, they will never let up. WHY? It's not the truth their seeking. As if we dont know Palin & her husband has ties to an Alaskian Indian group that wants to secede from the U.S

Is it possible that the only reason the information regarding the tape was disclosed back in April was to assist Hillary Clinton in the primaries? Now that Obama has the Democrat nomination, and the ultra-liberal LA Times has a "new horse in this race" it does not serve THEIR agenda to release a tape we, as the electorate and supposedly ultimate arbitors of who gets elected into office, has a right to view, in order to make an informed decision next Tuesday?? Oh wait, due to the Oprah-described "One" the electorate is hardly more than puppets, willing to jump on any bus after Sunday services where they have worshiped "the Other One" (a/k/a Jesus Christ) to cast their ballot for the Messiah incarnate. How very sad it is to see African-Americans used in such a way....all so that a person whose middle name we are forever banned from mentioning and who, if there were nothing to hide, would demand that the LA Times play the tape, knowing full-well it would only serve to help his campaign. Race having NOTHING to do with this, as Obama is just as white as he is black, he is a character we curiously know nothing about......I know more about Sarah Palin's children and "Joe the Plumber's" life than I do about the probable next leader of the free world!! The scariest part of all is that the inuendo is that he has ties to several unsavory characters, yet the mainstream media refuses to allow Americans to be informed about those associations.....Please put out ALL information about ALL candidates so that we may experience a true democracy in action next week, rather than the coronation of a king!!!!

I used to be undecided but no more. The Times' intransigence about releasing this tape has convinced me that something there is decidedly unattractive to Obama captured there. I believe that security is job ONE for our president and between Mr. Biden and the Times, it does not look like Mr. O can rise to the challenge. I was going to sit this one out, but no more. I'm decided and I'm gonna vote!

It's your credibility that is suffering through all this . . . you protect Barak at your own cost. Is it really worth it??
Posted by: Cindy | October 30, 2008 at 04:45 PM
If there was nothing damaging on that tape then Obama would want it released. The only answer is that Obama is covering something up. It may just be his inappropriate reaction to some negative comments from someone else, but it would give a view into his character. The tape should be released, but the Times is protecting their guy. If it was McCain, you know it would be leading each newscast and a front-cover story for them.

RELEASE THE TAPE. IF THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, WHY SHOULDN'T YOU RELEASE IT? THERE ARE LOTS OF QUESTIONS UNANSWERED ABOUT OBAMA AND THE MEDIA IS COVERING ALL. IF OBAMA BECOMES THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY HE WILL BE ANOTHER HUGO CHAVEZ AND FIDEL CASTRO. I HOPE I AM WRONG
Posted by: rose | October 30, 2008 at 05:22 PM
with all his interesting buddies, will Obama still be able to get a security clearance

Even though I live in Louisiana. I agree with everybody including John Macain and Sarah Palin that the video should be released to the public. So that we the people can see for ourselves, how good or bad the contents are especially if Israel is put in the middle of all this like always. In the bible they are the choosen ones of god and no matter what anybody (evil) wants. They are here now and forever even after armageddon. Thanks for letting me speak my mind, and by the way I know y'all will never release that tape to the public. but remember this very well you migh hide it from people but god knows what is on the tape. Bye for now I will be back tomorrow.

Is this the beginning of government run news? Controlled media? Is this how the media got their starts in pre USSR?
This country is for the people and about the people. If the people can't learn about it's own citizen especially one that is running for president then this country will not survive.
The LA Times needs to remember what responsiblility it has to the communtiy and country.
Posted by: chris | October 30, 2008 at 06:31 PM
It is sad that readers think the LA Times has a choice to release the tape - they do not. Once the pledge of confidentiality has been given it can't be undone without greater financial and professional damage than will ever attach to honoring their pledge of confidentiality. You can make up anything you like about the tape, but Goldfarb's response to the question about McCain's support of the Institute is telling - McCain has no more interest in speaking to that than the LA Times does in breaching its pledge of confidentiality. Never fear McCain backers, I'm sure the source will consent to release of the video in due course and President Obama can speak to it then.

You sure should release the tape, and yes every McCain/Palin supporter knows this will harm Obama's campaign. However, we know that the LA Times has helped Obama out in the past and is supporting him, endorsing him. and well not very objective. Well, the fact that you guard it makes us know that Obama would not look good, and to those of us that are suspicious of Obama it just gives more proof of the lack of objectivity in the current day reporting.
Gee, when my daughter was deployed to the Middle East and in danger- no newspapers had trouble showing Abu Ghraib pictures that definitely caused alarm and harm to our soldiers. It was the duty of all papers to be forthcoming with all information so that the American public could know what was happening.
How is it that the American public is not able to learn about the unsavory associations of Obama, because of a promise your paper made? What the heck were you even thinking to make such a sick promise? I think you are lying to protect Obama, and I am mad about it. I would not spend a dime to support the MSM. I heard that you just laid off 75 people, and may you lay off even more- and perhaps become even more meaningless in the scheme of things.

If there is nothing to hide - Barack should relish the release of the "tape"
But - this along with the FACT that Barack Obama requested that the Governor of Hawaii "seal" his official birth certificate - (while he was visiting his sickgrandmother in Hawaii) and the Governor did have it sealed - NOW why would anyone running for the Presidency of the most powerful country in the World care about whats on his or hers birth certificate?
And why would his paternal grandmother state that Barack Hussein Obama was born in Kenya and that she witnessed his birth.
And why would the Kenya government state that any birth documents would not be disclosed until "after" the United States Presidential election?
??????????????????

Protecting confidential sources???? Baloney! I bet if it was a matter of national security they wouldn't worry protecting their "confidential sources".
Posted by: Paul Strauss | October 30, 2008 at 07:28 PM
Why was it even brought up in the first place to drive people nuts? Since it was brought up the video should be released confidentiality or not. People should be given the right to see it and respond to it because god gave us the right. I especially want to see what kind of person Obama is and who he talks with and their actions also words. By the way, you might be able to hide it from the people, but god saw it from the beinning until now infact you might even say he is inside me right now motivating me as i type. In a way i feel possed in a good way to kind of let you know he is very real. so hide behind your scared tactics or bull whatever you want to call it, but god knows all and sees all.. Have a nice day .....

It is absolutely ridiculous that the LA Times will not release the tape of Obama. It is clear that journalism is dead at the LA Times. Your paper is garbage and I'm sure that your sales will continue to decline.
Posted by: bill corsy | October 30, 2008 at 07:41 PM
If the tape can not be released, than release a transcript of the tape. That can certainly be done. Why would anyone give a tape to a newspaper and tell them they can't release it. I think this has something to do with the Clintons. Now that she is out they want to make sure he gets in. I think Obama is the one that said he doesn't want it release
Posted by: suzanne | October 30, 2008 at 07:44 PM
To bad this newspaper is so biased. This video is Important for Americans to see.The only reason this newspaper will Not show it must be because it could change the course of the election!! Something funny going on here.
Posted by: allary | October 30, 2008 at 07:45 PM
The obvious bias of the Los Angeles Times in this case is appalling. You are holding the nation in suspense while you have in your possession a tape that can reveal the true nature of this man who wishes to lead our country.
We the citizens demand that you release this tape in its entirety for us to judge. If this dinner was held in a public place with many, many people there, then surely this information is available from multiple sources. You do not have to use only one person's testimony, but can even ask your pet candidate, Obama himself, to say what transpired and ask that the tape be released.
As a customer of your paper, all the people in my acquointance have decided we must boycott any advertisers in your paper and will cancel all our susbscriptions immediately. This includes more than 600 people in total who are offended by your intransigence in this matter and we intend to publicize our boycott to extend it to where it will cause your editorial staff to consider more than one liberal slant in your reporting.
Posted by: Concerned U S Citizen | October 30, 2008 at 07:55 PM
Democrats and Republicans alike have requested that you release this video!! Why haven't you done it? Obviously there is something to hide. If you released it even now, one would have to wonder if you altered it.
Posted by: Sandy | October 30, 2008 at 08:17 PM
THIS PAPER IS WITHHOLDING INFORMATION VITAL TO THE HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE US. WHY ISNT THE FBI INVESTIGATING OBAMA MORE? I GET INTERROGATED MORE AT THE DMV WHEN I HAVE TO RENEW MY LICENSE!!!! WHY DOES HE CONTINUE TO GET A FREE PASS FROM ALL MEDIA!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: sammy | October 30, 2008 at 08:35 PM
The public interest in knowing about their presidential candidate's words and
actions trumps any confidential agreements between the Times and its
source.
No doubt in time this video will manage to surface. If it does after Mr. Obama
has been elected President of the United States, then the Times will have
lost its credibility as a member of the 4th branch of government in this
country.

Release the video. or...at least release the transcript of the tape. your release of the story about the tape w/o a release of the tape itself, is either a cheap publicity stunt, or...incredibly arrogant. Would you give in if the tape featured McCain and right wing zealots at a banquet...?
