Countdown to Crawford: Scott McClellan a betrayer or hero?

This week we launched our newest political blog, Countdown to Crawford, a detailed and daily look at the final months of the Bush administration.
After former White House press secretary Scott McClellan testified yesterday to the Judiciary Committee about President Bush's involvement (or lack thereof) in the CIA leak controversy, Countdown to Crawford asked if McClellan was a traitor or a hero for writing about his experience and now testifying against his former employers. The 121 comments were mixed.
Charlie:
Traitor to some. Hero to others. Opportunist...or whistleblower?
What matters is if he's telling the truth.John:
Mclellan is disloyal. He can never be trusted again! He bites the hand that feeds him.Mick Russom:
HERO.
Just like Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.
The rest of the democrats and republicans are really insidious traitors that ALL need to be jailed for treason.D Douglas:
Dirtbag.Puablo:
He's not necessarily a hero, but as it stands right now he's just being a good person. He saw things he felt were wrong, and while he didn't stand up and stop it - and really would they have listened? - he at least is now able to identify how things happened in hindsight. Sure he's making money off the book, but I doubt he's in it just for the money, nobody would leave that administration and 'sell out' without knowing the repercussions. The fact that he just testified under oath supports that he is serious. Better late than never.

Neither. If I knew that the administration was lying since taking over as Bush was appointed by a partisan supreme farce, then McClellan had to know that the same data, facts that are available now, were available then. The media also is a traitor, because it chose to take the despot's side instead of the Constitution. The whole world knows that the Bush administration is the most corrupt and criminal ever. 20 January 2000 will live in infamy for the rest of the world's existence and it will be remembered as the day democracy cease to exist.

I think he's trying to cleanse himself of the taint. He'd have been a hero if he'd quit, and blown the whistle then.
