The holiday cards sent by Rep. Loretta Sanchez have a way of getting attention for the Garden Grove Democrat.

Most years her playful greetings have featured the congresswoman with Gretzky, the

large white cat who died in 2010. Front and center on this year’s card is a photo of Sanchez and her husband dancing along the ‘fiscal cliff.’ Sanchez, wearing a red dress and carrying a green Christmas stocking, is kicking up a high-heeled shoe.

‘May you dance with joy this holiday season (just not too close to the fiscal cliffs),’ the card says.

Sanchez has been creating and sending the cards to her Orange County constituents and others since her first year in Congress, 1997. Her campaign treasury, not taxpayers, foots the bill.

‘I’m glad to send some holiday cheer to my friends, family and especially to my colleagues as we negotiate to resolve the fiscal cliff conumdrum,’ Sanchez said in a statement as Congress and President Obama try to find a way to the avert automatic spending cuts and tax rate hikes known as the fiscal cliff.

‘Humor can be the best way to break the ice,’ Sanchez said. ‘I hope this card gives everyone a chuckle.’
