New political ad takes aim at Sacramento

  There’s a new political ad on the airwaves in California, blasting Sacramento politicians and focusing on wasteful spending.

While the spot, paid for by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, never makes an explicit political pitch, the messaging seems to come straight off the talking points of the campaign against Gov. Jerry Brown’s tax measure, Proposition 30, in its criticism of state leaders.

“Instead of creating jobs, politicians increased spending $30 billion since 2008,” the ad states. “We can fund our schools and make government work by cutting waste and creating jobs.”

A statewide media buyer for another campaign estimates the chamber has spent about $400,000 on ads statewide, set to run through the Labor Day weekend.

A spokeswoman for the state’s Chamber of Commerce, which is neutral on the governor’s initiative, said it is not involved in the ads in any way.

“We weren’t part of it, aren’t part of it,” spokeswoman Denise Davis said. “It’s their project."
