State Sen. Bob Huff elected new GOP leader
Huff, 58, was unanimously approved for the leadership post as the Senate heads into another difficult year in which it will have to work with Gov. Jerry Brown to address an expected $13-billion budget shortfall.
"The governor has indicated that he will work with Republicans when possible, and Senate Republicans are open to compromise and crafting true, bipartisan solutions," Huff said in a statement.
His district represents parts of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties.
A former assemblyman and Diamond Bar mayor, Huff is the owner of a commodity wholesale business, Ray S. French Co.
Huff’s wife, Mei Mei, has served as a paid consultant for billionaire developer Ed Roski Jr., owner of Majestic Realty, which won legislative approval in 2009 for a waiver of environmental laws for a football stadium Roski wants to build in the city of Industry.
