Sometimes it’s hard to choose.

Perhaps that was the case with the National Assn. of Letter Carriers, Branch 1100, which on Thursday announced its endorsement of Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Long Beach) in an early, hotly contested race for a new congressional district in southeast Los Angeles County.

A day later came the announcement from one of Richardson’s competitors for the 44th District seat, Rep. Janice Hahn (D-San Pedro), who said she was “pleased to have” the support of the same group that had endorsed Richardson. Both candidates received letters from branch President Barbara Stickler advising them of the group’s support.

No word yet on whether the letter carriers also are supporting the other announced contender, Assemblyman Isadore Hall (D-Compton).

The district runs from the L.A. harbor area to South Gate.
