Less than two hours after he announced the end to bipartisan negotiations for a June budget plan that includes billions in extended taxes, Gov. Jerry Brown cut a new YouTube video vowing to seek other options to stave off billions in additional cuts to state services.

Brown criticized Republicans for fighting for “a billion-dollar tax break to giant companies that keep jobs out of California,’ but did not discuss specifics about what his next move might be.

Instead, he sought to strike an optimistic tone, even as the latest round of bipartisan negotiations crumbled. “I’m not giving up,” he said. “Look, the problem has taken a decade to build up. It’s very serious and it’s going to take some time before we finally solve it. I’m going to explore every possible avenue. There’s more than one way to get to the goal,” he said.

“I’ve been around a long time,” Brown said. “I know we can do it.”
