When Gov. Jerry Brown named Nancy McFadden as one of his top advisors last week, earning an annual salary of $175,000, it was McFadden’s second paid job in California government. On his last day in office, former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reappointed McFadden to a $56,095-per-year part-time post on the California Medical Assistance Commission.

But McFadden won’t be keeping both jobs -– which could have ballooned her combined public salaries to more than $231,000 a year -– said Evan Westrup, a spokesman for Brown.

Westrup said McFadden, who was also an advisor to former Gov. Gray Davis and a senior vice president for PG&E, is resigning her post on the medical commission, on which she has served since 2003.
