The Jerry Brown administration is a work in progress. Only two people have been formally named to Brown’s Cabinet, and he has yet to hire a communications director or press secretary. Even the governor’s new website seems to be in transition. Or maybe it offers clues about the coming administration.

A link on the governor’s new home page offers a biography of the newly inaugurated governor. It also, for a time, promised ‘a short biography about the First Lady and Chief of Staff Anne Gust.’

Chief of staff?

Brown has hinted strongly that he would not have an official chief of staff. His wife, Anne Gust Brown, is clearly involved in the Brown administration. But will she formally be named chief of staff?

Spokesman Evan Westrup said the website was ‘obviously an error’ and ‘clearly not an official announcement.’ Perhaps. But as Gov. Brown remains coy about his top advisors, maybe, just maybe, this Web error was a clue about things to come.
