Schwarzenegger finance chief takes brief intermission

Minutes after accepting a job with Gov.-elect Jerry Brown’s new administration, Ana Matosantos, the finance chief appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, resigned her post. But Matosantos won’t be gone long.

She’ll be back in her old job Jan. 3 when Brown officially takes over. [Updated, 6:25 p.m.: In the intervening month, she’ll be working full time with Brown on a new budget.]

Schwarzenegger elevated Matosantos’ chief deputy, Cynthia Bryant, to the post for his administration’s final four weeks in office. ‘Ana has done a tremendous job as finance director this past year,’ Schwarzenegger said in a statement. ‘She knew when I appointed her that California would be facing more tough times and difficult choices, but she took on the challenge and I admire her courage and dedication ... I wish her the best of luck in her next endeavor.”
