Millions of vote-by-mail ballots will be sent to California voters Monday, officially kicking off the Nov. 2 election.

County elections officials began mailing ballots Monday to the more than 6 million Californians registered as permanent vote-by-mail voters and others who have requested mail-in ballots from their county elections office.

Ballots cast by mail made up 58% of the total votes in California's June 8 primary.
