It won’t just be Democratic big guns campaigning in California in the lead-up to November’s election. On the same October weekend that President Clinton will be in state stumping for Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom, Sarah Palin will rally Republicans at a fund-raiser in Anaheim.

The Republican National Committee announced the Palin event on Thursday. Planned for Oct. 16 at the Anaheim Marriott, the rally will feature the former governor of Alaska as well as RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

Several California Republican candidates will also appear at the event, but the list has not been finalized, a spokesman for the RNC said. A contribution of $25 will get supporters a ticket to the rally. For a donation of $30,400 per couple, supporters can have a photo and private meeting with Palin.

On Wednesday, the Brown and Newsom campaigns announced the details of two public events Clinton will host on his upcoming campaign and fund-raising trip to the state.

The three Democrats will appear together at UCLA on Oct. 15. Two days later, they’ll hold a rally at San Jose State University.

Given the politicians’ history -- Clinton and Brown faced-off in 1992 in the Democratic presidential primary, and last year Clinton endorsed Newsom over Brown in the gubernatorial primary -- the events should be interesting.
