Throughout the gubernatorial campaign, Meg Whitman has focused on Jerry Brown’s support from labor unions. She’s highlighted more than $20 million in union spending on Brown’s behalf, part of what Whitman derisively called ‘Jerry Brown Inc.’

In a new 15-second ad, Whitman goes a step further, painting Whitman as a labor-union puppet.

‘Jerry Brown again?’ the ad asks. ‘He sure comes with strings attached.’

Brown has pushed back against Whitman’s claims. In the last gubernatorial debate, Brown accused Whitman of trying to ‘scapegoat’ public-employee unions for the state’s budget woes.
