First Take: Campaign finance reports are in. Attorney general candidates face off. Budget vote set for Thursday.

A late addition to the budget deal gives a $30-million tax break to one family company.

Lawmakers are still on track to vote on the latest budget in state history on Thursday.

Meg Whitman has spent $119 million of her own money on her campaign, but she has also raised more than $10.7 million from outside donors from July through September.

The candidates for California attorney general squared off Thursday in their first, and perhaps only, debate.
