Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina raised more than $5.8 million in the third quarter for her hard-fought race against Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, including $1.2 million that was raised through a joint fundraising committee with the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Though Fiorina had been widely expected to use some of her own money for the general election race after lending her campaign $5.5 million in the primary, she has not put any more of her personal wealth into the campaign, according to her spokeswoman.

Fiorina reported $1.8 million in cash on hand for the remaining weeks of the campaign, according to a report covering July through the end of September. The National Republican Senatorial Committee also has committed $4.8 million to aid her bid, which has helped to pay for coordinated television ads that are now appearing on cable and broadcast statewide.

Boxer has not yet released her figures for the quarter. The three-term senator, who entered the race with a hefty treasury and did not have a competitive primary, had nearly 12 times more cash on hand than Fiorina after the period ending in June.
