Brown, Whitman face off in second gubernatorial debate

Fresno is the center of the California political universe Saturday, as Republican Meg Whitman and Democrat Jerry Brown face off in their second debate of the California gubernatorial camapign.

The debate, sponsored by Univision, comes at the end of a wild week on the campaign trail, when it was revealed that Whitman employed a housekeeper for nine years who was in the country illegally.

Analysis this week has focused on how the revelation will affect Whitman and her standing among the state’s Latino voters.

The debate will air on Univision stations across the state at 4 p.m., after the candidates’ answers are translated into Spanish.
