Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who’s spent the last week on a goodwill trade mission to Asia, will go directly to the site of the gas-main explosion in San Bruno, Calif., when he flies in from Korea on Wednesday.

“He wants to receive a briefing on the damage and the recovery efforts,” said spokesman Jeff Macedo, referring to the blast last week that killed at least four people and damaged dozens of homes in the bedroom community near the San Francisco International Airport.

Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado, who is acting governor while Schwarzenegger is out of the country, already has toured the site and has urged the California Public Utilities Commission to speed up its investigation of the fatal explosion.
