Sen. Barbara Boxer and her Republican challenger Carly Fiorina will debate for a second time on Sept. 29 in a radio debate hosted by La Opinion and public radio station KPCC.

The two candidates met for a heated first debate last week at St. Mary’s College in Moraga -- where Fiorina sought to frame Boxer as an ineffective lawmaker with few accomplishments while Boxer portrayed Fiorina as a failed chief executive who presided over mass layoffs and shipped American jobs overseas.

A poll conducted by CNN and Time Magazine during that week found the two candidates still in a dead heat with Boxer leading Fiorina 48% to 44% -- within the poll’s margin of error.

The Sept. 29 forum will take place at the KPCC studios in Pasadena and be broadcast live on public radio stations around the state from 1 to 2 p.m. on KPCC’s Patt Morrison program. Morrison and La Opinion’s metro editor, Gabriel Lerner, will serve as moderators. The debate will also be streamed live on La Opinion.com and KPCC.org.
