Carly Fiorina was asked about her calls to repeal President Obama’s healthcare bill, but said ‘we need to be sure that every American has access to quality, affordable healthcare.’

She said the Obama plan is contributing to the deficit and moves 16 million people into Medicaid -- ‘a program that is virtually bankrupt,’ she said. ‘We’re not helping people.’

Fiorina said there should be more competition for health insurance companies and that the nation should subsidize a high-risk pool for the most expensive Americans to insure.

‘Medicaid cannot handle the influx of patients that they are being asked to deal with,’ she said. ‘We have the highest quality healthcare in this country. Let us not destroy that,’ she said.

Boxer said she would support an effort to add a public option to the healthcare law. Boxer said the law gives states ‘a lot of flexibility’ and supports a public option for California.

‘Right now, if you have a child that’s up to 26 years of age, you can keep them on your policy. Right now, seniors are getting $250’ to help them with their prescription drugs, because of the Obama plan.

Boxer said of the Obama proposal, ‘Most people want us to amend it, not end it.’
