Barbara Boxer said she would end the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Californians, and criticized Carly Fiorina’s budget plans.

‘I’ve seen her budget recommendations. They’re a disaster for California. They would cause draconian cuts’ in social services.

Fiorina said the stimulus ‘was a failure’ and cited increased unemployment since the stimulus passed and that Boxer has opposed six balanced budgets. When pressed on what to cut, Fiorina said, ‘First, let’s institute a spending cap in Washington, D.C. I would return spending as a beginning to 2008 levels. Second, let’s give every American the option of designating up to 10% of their federal tax dollars toward paying down the debt.’

‘I believe there is much opportunity to save money in the Defense Department,’ she said, but ‘I will not cut funding on national security.’
