Republican gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman took a break from the campaign trail Monday when she was called for jury duty.

The former EBay chief was not selected for a trial, but she may have to return to the Redwood City courthouse on Thursday as the selection process continues.

In the past, the candidate has struggled with another aspect of civic life -- voting on a regular basis. But a campaign spokeswoman said Whitman enjoyed her time at the Hall of Justice and Records.

“She enjoyed meeting her fellow potential jurors this afternoon but looks forward to returning to the campaign trail where she can continue to tell Californians about her plans to create 2 million jobs during the next 5 years,” said spokeswoman Sarah Pompei.
