Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown revealed a campaign war chest of more than $23 million for the final three months of his gubernatorial campaign.

Campaign finance reports released Monday show Brown raised more than $2.6 million in the six weeks between May 23 and June 30. Brown has been famously frugal during these summer months and has spent just $377,000 since the beginning of 2010.

Brown has had the luxury of avoiding a contested primary fight. He has also been able to husband his campaign’s resources as a labor-funded independent group launched television commercials attacking Brown’s Republican opponent, Meg Whitman. That campaign, California Working Families 2010, has not released its financial reports as of yet.

A spokeswoman for Whitman said her campaign would release its reports later Monday.
