With polls closed, deputies await action
As polls closed across the state tonight, the action was just starting to pick up for Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies stationed at the registrar's office in Norwalk.
The deputies have blocked off streets around the building, where votes are counted, for hours in anticipation of patrol cars delivering ballots.
Another set of ballots will be flown in via helicopter, unloaded into a tent outside, then filtered upstairs to a crew of counters.
A group of deputies hung out around their patrol car chatting, their attention directed to the Lakers game.
"Last time I checked they were up 1," shouted one deputy.
