Fresh off of resounding victory over her two primary opponents, Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina trained her sights on her Democratic opponent, telling a cheering crowd at a Republican breakfast in Anaheim that the election was about “the future, not the past”: “Thank you very much, Barbara Boxer — we have had quite enough from you.”

The former Hewlett Packard chief executive cast Boxer’s record on creating jobs as a failure, arguing that a vote for legislation did not amount to creating a job.

“She said that she had been fighting to create jobs and then she quickly said she had passed bills to create jobs,” Fiorina said. “Well, ladies and gentleman, the contrast could not be more clear because I know, this team knows, that government does not create jobs.’

Promising to run a “tireless, fearless” campaign, Fiorina mentioned that Boxer already had invited her to debate. “Here’s what I say, Barbara: Bring it on. Anytime. Anywhere.”

After praising gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman, the former chief executive of EBay, Fiorina told the crowd that the Republican ticket “represents the promise, the future, the diversity, the richness of this great and glorious state of California, and that is why all the people across the nation are looking West and saying, ‘Holy Cow.’ ”
