State unemployment hits record high

A record 12.6% of Californians were unemployed in March, according to new statistics from the federal government. The numbers are up slightly from the 12.5% rate in February.

California’s jobless rate remains well above the national rate of 9.7%, as its construction and financial services sectors continue to struggle.
