Film industry leery of group set up by Sen. Calderon

Movie industry officials aren’t exactly lining up to join forces with an organization that state Sen. Ron Calderon (D-Montebello) set up to advocate on their behalf.

The group, called the Bring Hollywood Home Foundation, is asking film businesses and trade groups to contribute up to $100,000.

Calderon, like some others in the state Legislature, has a reputation for lavish spending of donor money. In the past, he has poured campaign cash into such expenses as Las Vegas retreats.

Now some potential donors are steering clear of his latest venture.
