Exclusive: Prince performances to start this week at Roosevelt Hotel
Prince indeed will be bringing his regal self to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, kicking off a series of seven performances this Saturday night. Details of the shows, which were to have started earlier this month, have been worked out over the past couple of weeks and will be announced in a release later today.
They are:
The series will be billed "3121 Live" and underwritten by Verizon Wireless, V Cast Song ID and Thompson Hotels, which operates the Roosevelt. Prince will debut new music, including "Guitar," the first single from his new album "Planet Earth," and the song will be available for download by guests at the shows.
Dates of the shows will be this Saturday and Sunday, three nights next week (June 28, 29 and 30), with two additional dates to be announced.
As expected, Prince's shows will not be a cheap ticket. VIP packages (for two), limited to a total of 65, will cost $3,121, with 70 standing-room only tickets going for $312.10. (Yes, numerals in the pricetags add up to 7; the guy has a fondness for that number.)
The show promises to be intimate. The evenings kick off with a 7:30 p.m. dinner in the hotel's Dakota restaurant, presented by Prince's personal chef Lena Morgan. After dinner, guests will go to the Blossom Room for a DJ set followed by a two-hour Prince performance. And at about 1 a.m., Prince will preside over a "free-form jazz jam." Expect cameos by special guests -- the likes of Elton John, Will.I.Am, Herbie Hancock and Kelis have sat in with Price before. How to get tickets? I'll have details later today. Promise.
UPDATE: For ticket and VIP package requests, email: 3121HRH@ThompsonHotels.com.

I love you Prince but not for that much. I guess I'll catch your show when you want to play for the 'working' class...

Yeah, what's shakin with Prince? His last show in San Francisco was underwritten by a credit card company. And without having that owning that particular card, you COULD NOT buy tickets for the show. Its seems a lil fascist. Yep, I said it. Maybe it is a reality of presenting music today. Its sad. Good luck Prince, I hope that you can return to to playing shows for the every-man(woman) again some day.

I am still a little sore as club member from Prince's fan club that the website was shut down without any notification and now as a member we don't get the up close access to shows - letters should have been mailed since we paid our hard earned money! However, I have loved the man since age 16 and still do but I will wait until the US tour (hopefully) and pay a more affordable rate. Best wishes!

What a drag. When did he become an Elitist bore? So much for Bible study. Anyway, all the TRUE artists have left the Country.

I still love the purple midge. Do your thing and get paid. I can't afford it, so what? I cant afford a Bentley, but I don't hate the company that makes them. Prince is still the MAN. No longer a slave to the establishment. After all these years, why shouldn't he have the right to write is own ticket. Props to the Symbol. If I could charge 3121 to sing to a small crowd, believe you me I would, and so would the rest of the capitalist population. Get your cake boss. I'm sneaking in the back door of that piece.

I remember well when he was opening act for the Rolling Stones at the LA Coliseum, and was booed off the stage.
I didn't voluntarily pay to see him then, and I wouldn't now !!

Saw Prince in Vegas twice this year and believe me it was worth every penny and didn't cost that much really - the price to see a legend play ?? worth every penny

This show will be an experience of a lifetime. True Prince fans will pay the price because it's worth it. If they can't afford it they will be bummed, but they will also understand and wait for him to come to their city.
The man is a legend, the best guitar player out there and a musical genius. Who are you to say he's charging too much? Let it go, and respect the man's decision.

Well, to all the haters:
I reside in Mpls (hometown). I've seen this man play in basements and high school cafeterias. The "Bentley" comment posted here was dead-on. Don't be mad because you can't (couldn't) afford it. Is it Prince's fault you picked a low-paying job? It's all relative, people: If you MAKE enough, the price isn't bad. if you DON'T MAKE ENOUGH, you start hatin'!!! I suppose Kevin Garnett & Kobe should feel bad that they earn so much and are leaving out the "working class"!! The more I think about the posts above, the more embarrased I feel for the ones who posted! Wow!
One of the perks of being "working class" in Mpls: I have an opportunity to see him at First Ave 7/7/07 night for $31.21. And yes, the decimal is in the right spot. Check the First Avenue website and see it for yourselves. The nerve of him to charge almost $32 US dollars for an afterparty/concert. That's just wrong, ain't it?!!! NOW WHAT????? I can't wait to see the replies to this post. And this is an AFTERPARTY, so you know what that means........
Remember, as a kid, you are programmed to hate anything you don't immediately understand. So haters, enjoy yourselves. And the next idiot that says Prince "forgot about the working class" will be allowed 2 full minutes to pull their heads out prior to posting. Make it count.

I am so happy to see that 3121.com has a "sign in" spot for former NPGMC members. If it is because of my previous posting, I am happy to know that it did not go unheard. However, if it was due to him just being fair to his beloved fans then that's great too. Nonetheless, Prince you are AWESOME(in looks, body, spirit and talent) I love me some You!
