Pearl Jam headlines Lollapalooza
[With special thanks and a tip of the cap to Jeff Weiss -- you should stay in touch with him here -- Kevin Bronson returns from his travels after being snow-delayed. In Chicago. No worries about having to de-ice the aircraft if you're going to this show, though ...]
The revitalized Lollapalooza has weighed in with its lineup -- 130 bands strong over three days on nine stages in Chicago's sure-to-be-scorching Grant Park. Topping the Aug. 3-5 event will be the noted avocado hawkers Pearl Jam, playing a Sunday set that promoters say is the band's only U.S. show this year.
And we thought they'd broken up.
Perry Farrell -- described in the press release as "founder, creator and cultural architect" (suppress those giggles) -- will be there with his new band Satellite Party, and the rest of the lineup sizzles with the kind of heavy hitters you'd expect from a festival of Lollapalooza's lineage -- in no particular order: Daft Punk, Interpol, Iggy & the Stooges, Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Snow Patrol, Spoon, the Hold Steady ... aw, heck, you can read the poster. Just skip the part where they misspell Mickey Avalon's name.
Best news of all: A three-day pass is $195. With. No. Service. Charges.
