UCLA dumps Biola
The UCLA men's basketball team pummeled Biola on Friday night at Pauley Pavilion. The 76-42 score didn't seem to capture the cavernous talent gap, but the Eagles fought hard and managed to take a dozen turnovers from the Bruins. Otherwise, there weren't many stats worth blinking at.
At times, it didn't even seem fair. In the second half, Darren Collison grabbed a steal under the UCLA basket and split a pair of defenders while going coast-to-coast for an easy finger roll. He finished with a game-high 14. Michael Roll and Jrue Holiday each had 11 and Josh Shipp added 10.
Also on hand were former Bruin players Jordan Farmar and Lorenz Mata-Real. Farmar may have been the biggest attraction in the building, as he was mobbed by adoring fans after the final buzzer. He probably spent at least half an hour signing autographs and taking pictures.
The best performance of the night probably goes to UCLA's Rich Perelman, who types up the play by play from the game. Talk about creative score-keeping:
- Ship sails in for flying right hand King Kong Kram from Aboya
- Miller 16 ft. left side rainbow off cup of consomme from Campbell
- Roll called for english muffin vs. King
- Aboya 18 ft. right wind ceiling scraper thanks to a bialy from Roll
- Schroeder puts abdominal stretch on Keefe
- Holiday 24 ft. right wing parabola
- Holiday flying right hand Monster Mash off Shipp's steal and lob ast.
- Hampton left side double follow goes Inn
