More to Love

Kevinloveannounce2

Our friends at the Dave Dameshek Show on 710 ESPN just passed us this interview with Kevin Love. In it, Dameshek and Love talk about this year's loaded freshmen class, Love's love for the Lakers (or Clippers, or whoever will sign his paychecks), and what he still wants to accomplish as a student. Let's just say he's setting himself up to be a broadcaster. Maybe one day he'll replace another former Bruin who's doing NBA color commentary.

The interview runs about 10 minutes. You can catch more Dameshek from 4-7 p.m. weekdays on KSPN-AM (710).

bill plaschke's article about college kids leaving early is fine...but he disses college hoops in such a dishonest way for a journalist to do, i had to make my feelings public: Here's what I wrote him and I thought it was appropiate for this forum:

Dear Mr. Plashke:

There's an aspect of your college hoops article and
I found really dishonest. That Harris poll
information is a poor source to judge the popularity
of college hoops, at least from the points you decided
to take from it.

Fist of all, you failed to mention that in that Harris
poll, professional basketball was only 1% more popular
than the supposed seriously unpopular college
basketball.

And more to the point, you mention that hockey is more
popular than ncaa basketball in that poll - but to
refer to that, then you should have referred to the
fact that hockey is also more popular - in that poll-
than NBA basketball.

We both know that is highly questionable. Television
ratings tell a diferent story. Yes, college basketball
is not as popular as college football, but in terms of
tv ratings, it dominates hockey, as does the NBA...

And the NCAA tournament, as a whole, gets better
ratings than the NBA playoffs, even in off years.

The point of your article also misses other things.
What about that Florida squd? They stayed a while.
What about that UCONN squad from '04, full of
uperclassment who were future big time NBA talent
(they had the second and third picks in the draft if
I'm not mistaken)?..Or that Carolina squad a few years
back?

Anyway, I often respect your work, but I thought the
"research" in that article really lacked context, and
you used a specific information source that backed up
your thesis, but mislead readers.

Thank you.

Adam Rose is a fake...He is a Trojan...Why not tell the truth! He is not a tortured soul who has ties to both Ucla and USC. He is a Trojan alum. Dont make it sound like he is in the middle. Tell the truth!! LA TIMES let us decide to choose to read your blog with the truth in hand!

Ted - I think I was pretty clear on my first entry for this blog:

"I'll be managing this new project. Yes, USC is my alma mater. No, UCLA has nothing to worry about."

You are correct that I'm not a tortured soul, but I do have ties to both institutions. And ultimately this blog will not be about my opinion, but a collection of opinions -- many from people who bleed blue-and-gold.

All in good time!
