Mission Viejo High safety commits to UCLA
The Times’ UCLA beat writer, Chris Foster, reports that Mission Viejo High safety Alex Mascarenas today made a verbal commitment to UCLA.
The 5-11 1/2, 170-pound junior had scholarship offers from Arizona, Colorado and Utah, according to Scout.com. Mascarenas also can play cornerback, and was the only sophomore on the 2006 All-CIF Pac-5 team.
He is the Bruins' third commitment to the 2009 recruiting class.

There's no way that Mascarenas will play safety at UCLA. In fact, he rarely plays the position at Mission. His best position is CB.
