Wednesday practice report: Olson 'doubtful'

The Times' UCLA beat reporter, Chris Foster, noted that quarterback Ben Olson did very little in practice today after irritating his knee Sunday and is "doubtful" for Saturday's Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl against BYU. A final determination will be made Friday.

Osaar Rashaan is now the projected starter, with McLeod Bethel-Thompson in reserve if Olson is unable to suit up.

In other news, UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero was seen in Las Vegas, so he's off the recruiting trail for now. All indications point to a new head coach being appointed mid-to-late next week.

Rich ... you had a report on your site earlier that you have since taken down without any mention of doing so or why. You owe your readers an explanation. Here is your report Im referencing:

"Although UCLA interim head coach DeWayne Walker has been rumored as a replacement defensive coordinator for the University of Washington after the firing of Kent Baer on Monday, the Seattle Times suggested that former Washington defensive coordinator Chris Tormey (now linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator), Oregon State assistant Jay Locey or former USC defensive line coach and former Mississippi head coach Ed Orgeron could be first in line for that job."

Rich Perelman

The lines you cite are where they have always been: in Tuesday's "Bruin SportsWire" post. They never went down or even moved.
