Trojans end Bruin streak and national title hopes
USC hadn't beaten UCLA in women's soccer since 1998, but that didn't stop the Trojans from advancing to their first national final with a 2-1 upset win in the College Cup at College Station, Texas.
The Bruins had a 1-0 lead at halftime on Lauren Cheney's goal in the 37th minute, but USC's Amy Rodriguez tied up the game with a shot from the edge of the box in the 68th minute. Rodriguez scored again on a dribbler off a corner in the 74th minute to give USC a 2-1 lead.
UCLA was unable to answer and ends up without a national championship in its sixth straight trip to the final four. The Bruins end the season at 20-2-2, losing their first and last games of the season, both played in Texas.
