Maryland-UCLA: Second Half
The Bruins had a rough time on the shooting side, with only 33% for the first half not to mention 12 turnovers, but they held Maryland to about 30% from the floor and 18 (!) turnovers. The Bruins will shoot better this half with Josh Shipp back on the floor. He went out quickly after two early fouls in the first half.
>> A Kevin Love turnaround, a little Shipp drive and a thunderous dunk from Alfred Aboya has UCLA up 36-20. Best thing on television: Darren Collison jumping up and down on Aboya’s dunk and a leaner from Luc Richard Mbah A Moute.
>> The Bruins have a 46-29 lead with about 11 minutes to go. Between Maryland’s inability to shoot and the sturdy UCLA defense, this isn’t an interesting game, but an effective one for Ben Howland. It’s kind of like watching a boa constrictor do its thing on an unwitting rodent.
>> It’s nice for UCLA to get some national exposure on ESPN, but someone has to explain to Dick Vitale how to pronounce "Mbah A Moute."
>> Forget about Lorenzo Mata-Real’s free-throw problems, the entire Bruin front court will be shooting free throws until they drop in practice. Love, Aboya and the rest aren’t exactly efficient, hitting one of two most of the night so far.
FINAL SCORE: UCLA 71, MARYLAND 59
And 1: Reader PRH wants to know why the Princeton-Duke game gets an in-game, upper right corner score box on ESPN during the last few minutes of the UCLA game, and Bruin fans who had to endure the end of the Oklahoma State-LSU game got nothing. East Coast bias?

It is the East coast Sports Propaganda Network for a reason: Red Sox, Yankees, Duke, you name it.

Not only do we need to teach Dick Vitale to pronounce "Mbah a Moute", we also need to teach him to talk about the game going on in front of him. Dan Shulman and Dick Vitale were paying about as much attention to the UCLA-Maryland game as they would have to a high school game.
Scratch that, they would have paid *more* attention to the HS game, pointing out which players were D-1 prospects and who was doing what right.
And the high school announcers would have done a better job of keeping the audience informed.

Am I the only one who notices (I believe its dan shulman) pronounce the word basketball as "Basketaball" with an "a" after the "t". I think it's him. Whoever it is, it absolutely drives me NUTS! Someone please teach him how to say basketball. It isn't very hard
