UCLA-Oregon State fourth quarter: This is hard to watch

In the last five series, UCLA has run 23 plays to Oregon State’s six, but the Bruins have six penalties and an interception that has kept them from taking the lead.

On the fourth series of the fourth quarter, the Bruins got a break using the one offensive play that has worked — the middle screen — for a 69-yard touchdown to Brandon Breazell, and then Oregon State committed its fourth turnover of the day to give the Bruins another touchdown.

How weird is this?

Now the Bruins get enough turnovers to make them stockholders in Jack in the Box restaurants! Two turnovers and a blocked punt turned into 21 Bruin points and the game looks like a rout.

Ben Olson finished the game at 16-28 for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and Khalil Bell and Chris Markey combined for 40 carries for 135 yards at tailback.

Final score: UCLA 40, Oregon State 14

BRUINWOOD

THE KEY PHRASE ABOVE IS "and the game looks like a rout." AS WITH THE BYU GAME, A POORLY PREPARED TEAM POORLY EXECUTED WHATEVER EXCUSE FOR A GAMEPLAN THAT DORRELL & COMPANY CONCOCTED, BUT THE BRUINS CAME AWAY WITH A WIN DESPITE THEIR COACHES' INCOMPETENCY.

THE PLAYERS, WHO DO POSSESS CONSIDERABLE TALENT, WERE NOT FOCUSED, INCURRED NUMEROUS "MIND FART" PENALTIES (E.G., FALSE STARTS, WRONG NUMBER OF PLAYERS ON THE LINE OR ON THE FIELD, ETC.) RATHER THAN PENALTIES RESULTING FROM OVER-AGGRESSIVENESS. (RECALL THE GAME @ AZ IN '05, AND THE ND DEBACLE AS WELL AS THE TOILET (EH, EMERALD) BOWL BOTH IN '06???)

UNDER DORRELL, THE "GUTTY LITTLE BRUINS" HAVE BECOME THE "NUTTY LITTLE BRUINS."

WHEN WILL BRUIN ALUMS, FANS & STUDENTS GET A HEAD COACH WHO CAN DEVELOP LONGEVITY AMONG HIS ASSISTANTS WITHOUT HIRING CONVICTED CRIMINALS FOR HIS STAFF, DEVELOP CONSISTENCY OVER AN ENTIRE SEASON IN THE BRUIN'S EXECUTION ON THE FIELD, AND BUILD A PROGRAM THAT PRESENTS A VIABLE CHALLENGE TO USC'S SUPREMACY BOTH IN SOCAL AND IN THE PAC-10--NOT TO MENTION THE NATION?????

AS FOR DORRELL'S OFF THE FIELD SUCCESS IN "TURNING THE PROGRAM AROUND" (ALA GUERRERO-SPEAK), DOES HAVING YOUR ARGUABLY BEST PLAYER LEAVE THE SCENE OF A DRUNK-DRIVING ACCIDENT, ABANDONING A SERIOUSLY INJURED COED AT THE CRIME SCENE, AND THEN BE ALLOWED TO PLAY ON THE TEAM REFLECT UPSTANDING OFF THE FIELD CONDUCT??? STOOPS @ OKLA WOULD BE ASHAMED OF SUCH PERMISSIVENESS.

ENOUGH ALREADY, GUERRERO NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS MISTAKE AND FIND A TRUE LEADER; DG'S SUCCESS WITH HOWLAND SHOULD NOT HIDE HIS RESOUNDING FAILURE WITH DORRELL!!!!
