Keefe out for four months with left shoulder injury
UCLA sophomore forward James Keefe will have outpatient surgery on Friday morning at the UCLA Medical Center to repair the labrum in his left shoulder.
He suffered the injury while playing basketball, of course, and is expected to be out about four months. "Hopefully, I’ll be able to recover quickly and be back at full strength by the time Pac-10 play starts," he said.
Head coach Ben Howland said he hopes Keefe will be "ready to go in December. James had a great spring and summer and I was very enthused with his improvement during the off-season."
Keefe showed flashes of his considerable ability in very limited playing time last season, but was expected to play a bigger part on the 2007-08 team.
