"It was just staying by my family"
Kevan Walker, the son of UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker, has committed to attend UCLA next fall after he finishes his senior year at Arcadia High School, according to a story on BruinReportOnline.com, part of the Scout.com network.
It’s UCLA’s 24th commitment and Walker’s move from Minnesota – where he committed last April – to UCLA is significant because of the possibility that it may help keep his father on campus. The elder Walker played at Minnesota.
After working his magic on the Bruin defense last season, DeWayne Walker is on everyone’s short list to become a head coach sooner rather than later. Son Kevan attended school in Ashburn, Virginia in 2004 and 2005 while his father was the defensive backs coach for the Washington Redskins. He’s listed as a three-star recruit and is the fifth commit at receiver.
Kevan Walker is reported to have considered Colorado, Nebraska and Washington in addition to Minnesota and UCLA.
