Dorrell on Scott: "We feel this is the right thing"
UCLA coach Karl Dorrell announced to the Bruin football team at the end of Saturday second practice that wide receivers coach Eric Scott had been reinstated and would join the team for Sunday’s practice.
Dorrell told reporters after the practice, "We had talks with Eric yesterday, two hours actually, and went through the process very, very thoroughly about all the matters involved.
"I have decided I am going to go ahead and reinstate him. He will be at practice tomorrow so he’s back on our staff and we’re ready to get past this.
"It’s been a little bit of a distraction as you know because that’s what you guys [media] do but we’re ready to move forward. I know he’s excited to be back; I know that he’s excited to get past this situation and to get ourselves to continue to have focus for us to be a Pac-10-champion caliber football team."
Times Bruin beat reporter Chris Foster asked Dorrell if there was a determining factor that led to Scott’s reinstatement. Dorrell indicated there wasn’t one thing, but that "we went through a process" and that he made clear to Scott "what my expectations are, and we got a firm understanding from where we go from this point."
"We feel this is the right thing," said Dorrell, "and the best thing for our program is to get him back in the fold and keep ourselves moving forward."
