A fire in San Marcos, in northern San Diego County, was called in about 2 a.m. today, forcing the evacuation of 7,300 people in San Elijo Hills, Coronado Hills and Discovery Hills. Winds running 30 mph, with 7% humidity, fueled the blaze, which had engulfed 250 acres.

No buildings or homes had been lost, and no injuries had been reported. There was no mutual fire aid available to give, authorities said.

‘We’d love to dump from overhead, but that resource is not available,’ San Marcos city spokeswoman Jenny Peterson said.
