600 acres and growing

Mayor Antonio Villaragoisa said the fire has now burned 600 acres. About 25 people have refused to be evacuated from their homes, so LAPD officers are in the neighborhood south of the park monitoring the fire and the holdouts.

watching this from Adelaide, South Australia as I was chatting with a friend while he was driving home at around 7.30pm. Turning a corner, he was devasted to see the hills on fire once again.
Los Angeles appears very much like Adelaide geographically and we have just come out one of our driest summers on record. We had a couple of bushfires in our hills too and the photos of LA feel like home.
