Sleep? Who needs sleep? Measure R and Prop 1A gain ground
Both the Measure R and Prop 1A races remain too close to call as of 2 a.m. although both have gained ground in the past two hours and hold narrow leads. But a lot of votes remain to be counted.
At this point, I don't think we'll really know more until much later in the morning. Stay tuned. Lots to write about later today.

pete,
Measure R has nothing to do with the "bullet train". I think you have it confused with Proposition 1A.

After all the MTA's wastes and their pet projects, let's find out how much of the billions are actually going to toward the bullet train project.

@Ism - Yeah, Villaraigosa, Fuerer, La Bonge, Zev, and all the many others who work the grassroots way to build support for public transit should rejoice and unite under positive energy. We have a long road ahead of us, but we must not stray from our goals for building a world-class mass transit system.
As for Antonovich and Molina, they should be ousted for being so incredibly selfish, short-sighted, and provincial. Hopefully Antonovich will be retiring soon anyway due to (thank zeus), his old age.

Congratulations to the electorate of LA County who very responsibly invested in our future. My heartfelt thanks go to all who voted YES. Now we must watch closely to make sure Metro uses our money wisely. If Measure R delivers as much as it promises, we must also remember to reelect those elected officials who had the foresight to promote this vital measure and oust those who sniped at it from petty motives.

Now, the real fight over how much sales tax pork will be cut up begins. The first at the trough to be filled will be the MTA Unions, who will now be paid off not to strike during the Mayor's re-election next Spring. Maybe they could humor us with more frequent and reliable bus and rail service, expecially at night and on weekends?
